For a couple years Cole Brown’s Pacer > Indiana Pacers. If Martin was still going strong this wouldn’t even be a problem but Martin’s been off the air for 15 years, things were getting beyond real in Indy.
GUARDS: Darren Collison, George Hill, Dahntay Jones, AJ Price, Lance Stephenson
FORWARDS: Paul George, Danny Granger, Tyler Hansbrough, Jeff Pendergraph, David West
CENTERS: Roy Hibbert, Jeff Foster
Snuck in as the 8th seed in the East and then gave the Chicago Bulls all that they had in 5 games after going 37-45 during the regular 82. One of the youngest and most exciting teams around. The Pacers look like they may be taking it back to the mid-90s again. After a good rookie season Darren Collison carried on and put together a solid sophomore effort, becoming one of the young and exciting undersized floor generals in the game. Paul George will more than likely remain the starting 2G. He’s athletic, idk what else to say about him other than that but he has a high ceiling and though he had some rough stretches last year I expect him to bounce back very well this year. The George Hill trade may have been overlooked but this trade worked wonders for Indiana. They didn’t have much firepower off of their bench, now you have a proven shooter who will get his fair share of 6th Man Award votes. AJ Price looked iight last year backing up DC, still eager to see what Born Ready will do in the league.
Granger is a silent assassin, he’s gonna get you 20 night in and night out, that won’t change this year. Scooping David West strengthened their starting 5 while pushing Psycho T to the bench and further making their second unit a force to be dealt with. And Roy Hibbert continues to make improvements each and every year. 12 points, 7 boards and just about 2 blocks. If he steps those numbers up even slightly he could force his way into that backup center role on the all star team.
2011/2012 Prediction: 35-31 The East got better, so did the Pacers but they still lack that star to take them to the next level. 35-31 will get them into the Playoffs where I think if they draw the right matchup they could upset someone (Boston). Again, this is a team on the rise so as much as they can make a huge leap they can also take a step back if things don’t come to fruition. I like them and according to win percentages 45% to 53% is probably one of the top 5 increases that we will see this year.
